Matai Peak Lodge
We offer you a place to uniquely experience coastal New Zealand.
Once a working shepherds hut, we have lovingly and respectfully restored this hideaway to offer you rustic luxury at its best. The floorboards pulled from the historic Wadi Nimrin woolshed have been restored and relayed, bearing the patina of years gone by. The walls of solid macrocarpa milled from the farm and have been reconfigured to make the most of the sweeping coastal views looking south to Banks Peninsula and north beyond Kaikōura to the Clarence river.

Capacity of up to 4 guests. Includes a master bedroom with a king size bed and a fold out couch double in the living room
A well serviced bathroom with a torrential shower and outdoor bath
Completely self-contained, includes a sitting room with an indoor fireplace and a covered outdoor kitchen and dining area
Children are welcome but will need to be very closely supervised due to the rugged location and multiple hazards
Accessible by 4WD and helicopter, two helicopter pads available. If your mode of transport does not fit these categories, we are able to transport you to and from the lodge throughout you stay at no extra charge

Check-in time is from 2.00PM and check-out at 10.00AM

Dinner options:
1. With advanced notice, you can hire your own personal chef for a special meal. Menus are crafted with seasonal inspiration from our farm. Priced upon request.
2. We Gather, You Create. For a farm to table experience that won’t compromise your privacy, fresh produce will be delivered for you to cook with easy to follow instructions. Only available for the first night of your stay. $50 PP.
